An integral part of the thermoforming process is the tooling which is specific to each part that is to be produced.  National Steel Rule Die, Ltd. can produce the following types of thermoform tooling:

Wood Patterns - These are generally inexpensive and allows the customer to make changes to their tooling designs with ease.  Wood patterns are typically used to gauge functionality of both the part and the thickness of the material.

Cast Aluminum Molds - These aluminum molds can be male or female and can also be used in pressure forming applications.  Cost is a significant factor with this type of tooling.

Machined Aluminum Molds - Typically used for shallow draw parts.  Applications may include food packaging.  Cost is a significant factor with this type of tooling.

Composite Molds - These molds are a lower cost alternative to machined and cast aluminum molds and have shown to be durable and produce high quality parts.
